“International Law” *IS* the law of force, Eminence.
Always a tell when international law is invoked. Quick, when did such law get passed and who is the enforcement arm?
“His Chinese paymasters would be happy to explain it all to him.”
They may already have… there’s a deeper US strategy here with actions in Venezuela and Iran, that impacts China.
Maybe Cardinal Parolin should tell the prophet Samuel (who hacked Agag, King of the Amalekites, into pieces) that justice has given way to force; the force of law has been replaced by the law of force.
It’s becoming very clear, especially during this military action, that Europe (including the Vatican) are on the outside looking in, completely irrelevant. With their large Muslim populations, they don’t even belong to that post-WWII Western Coalition that was so important. Think it now the USA, Israel, pro-USA Middle East and Asia that are the important players in this world now.
I’m not convinced that there is a pro-USA Middle East, Matthew … There’s Sunnis and Shiah, and alliances of convenience and profitability.
Perhaps cardinals should worry more about the erosion of the moral law.
Perhaps it would help if they spoke of it more often.
