In the beggining, I did not like cats.
But at peak pre-teen years we had four boys, two girls, 4 cats, 2 dogs and a guinea pig named Jim.
On some days, everyone got along. On the other days we still had fun.
I miss them all terribly.

I love cats, but because the grandchildren are allergic to cat hair and / or dandruff, we do not have cats any longer. Indeed I very much miss not having a pet cat.

Sidenote: today’s workout after Morning Rosary & Bible Reading is attached. I rowed 7 kilometers in 34 minutes and 11 seconds as Grandma, step-daughter, and grandchildren were sleeping. This is not my best time nor my worst, but the pace is better than 8 minutes per mile. Nevertheless, God is always good to this 67 year old diabetic cardiac patient. Technically, I should have died during my cardiac event of 2022. Nevertheless, I encourage everyone to exercise regularly (only under doctor’s supervision!) because the aerobic activity and weight lifting are as good for one’s psychological condition as for one’s physical condition. And yes, my physician receives regular monthly reports: graphs in Excel of exercise statistics, heart rate, blood pressure, blood glucose trends, etc. She has told me that I should no longer do 10 kilometers on the rower because of my predilection for over-training (e.g., some is not enough, more is better, and too much is just right). Grandma strictly enforces that advice. 😉 However, the Lord is always my strength 💪 🙏 !

Lucius:

I’m a licensed veterinary nurse (ret) and cat owner… I’m hearing from former co workers who have seen amazing results from new pet foods that reduce the allergens in cat dander to the point where allergic people can comfortably share their home with a house panther. I’m not pushing any particular product, I’m just surprised that some of these options are game changers for so many people.

“God created the cat so that man may stroke the tiger.”

I am a cat person through and through. My childhood cat Smokey slept on my bed from when I was 3 until he died when I was 17. Currently out here in the farm country of the Eastern Shore our two cats earn their keep especially when it gets cold and the mice try to come in, and in the early spring when the rodents appear.

PS. We survived our jaunt through the Warmth of Collectivism this weekend.

Our 4 kittens will be 2 years old on March 13, so they aren’t kittens anymore, but they still seem to enjoy chasing and wrestling one another. Mama sometimes still grooms and rassles them too. Life with 5 cats is never boring…

I am a dog person in general and a German Shepherd guy in particular. I have had a way to settle German Shepherds who do not know me and make buddies out of them. GSDs are very loyal to their families and naturally suspicious of strangers.

My mom died of cancer last Saturday at 3AM. She was moved from home to a hospice Wednesday evening last week. Her pain and discomfort were getting worse and her lucidity was gone.

Now I have to move on to disposition and disposal of her property. I need to get a power of attorney signed by my brother, currently an inmate in a Hillsborough County jail that apparently only allows video visits.

Catholic anti-Semites are among the worst anti-Semites.

Don’t agree with you there. The Remnant and Catholic Family News used to publish articles with these odd asides in them. Haven’t read them in some time. Neither publication has anyone of influence on their masthead.

But I have to admit you can learn so much from these people. In fact, on Saturday, I learned I was Jewish.

I’m familiar with that type, and some are Catholics, but that’s not their signature. Their signature is their insistence that they know the hidden history and you don’t. Very common type among the aficionados of Kennedy assassination literature. They’re all over the place on the Unz comment boards.

Penguins Fan-
My condolences on your mother. I will offer a prayer for her – and you.

Time to lawyer up.

You’re going to need a decent guide to navigate the estate because of your brother’s inaccessibility and the general opposition to everything you do by some in your family (i.e. your son). I would think an estate lawyer who also does criminal would be invaluable because of your brother’s incarceration.

BTW- I *think* power of attorney does not survive the person. In other words, power of attorney is probably no longer the correct document to get things done. (I am not a lawyer, but have been executor for my dad.)
Also, I do not know how to notarize signatures in prison, but I know some cities have “mobile notaries” that might be useful to you. That’s who I used when my dad was in hospice.

“Only God can forgive sins” Mark 2:7, Luke 5:21, Isaiah 43:25.
Having emptied Himself of divinity, Jesus begged His Father, in Heaven to forgive those who murdered Him.
After Christ arose from the dead, He empowered the Apostles to forgive sins through His power of attorney as God. The Priest acting in persona Christi forgives our sins in the Sacrament of Penance.
Jesus having risen to His Father in Heaven receives the forgiveness of our sins from His Father.
“All power in Heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Matt. 28:18. Jesus assumes His divinity after His resurrection.
As the lay priesthood, having been implicitly baptized into Christ’s baptism in the Jordan as priest, prophet and king every man can forgive those who murder him. This forgiveness is temporal and must be confirmed by God in heaven.
The four last things are death, judgement, heaven or hell. God judges in the general and the particular judgement and forgives sins as only He can or not.
The death penalty is temporal punishment for first degree homicide.
I can forgive my murderer. God still must judge and forgive my murderer.
I cannot forgive your murderer because I will be giving aid and comfort to God’s and man’s enemy and I may legally become an accessory to your murder after the fact.
The death penalty being the temporal punishment for sin, the murderer must face God’s judgement in eternity.
Paying with his life here on earth, the murderer may find God more willing to absolve him of homicide in the first degree in eternity.

It is my opinion that the dinosaurs were eradicated more by cannibalism than by the comets and the ice age.
The dinosaurs ate the small dinosaurs then they ate the large dinosaurs never reproducing properly, like us.
The wealthy Romans did not beget children because they were too interested in having a pagan lifestyle.
In this day and age the rest of the world through abortion does not replace its lost members and mathematically faces extinction as well.
