Blessed Sheen at Last?

The Pope being from Illinois probably helps, but I will believe it when I see it.  Too many Lucy snatching the football away from Charlie Brown moments before to make me completely confident.

It’s such a farce that becoming a saint has become a political issue. Something tells me that God doesn’t play politics, at least not the politics that we know.

Being canonized does not matter, if one is in heaven.

When Sheen is beatified and hopefully canonized, I will sing Peoria Tonight at the top of my voice!

If true, about time, Archbishop Sheen was a great Catholic. I’ve posted this here many times, but I will again. No one can convince me that if the court decision was to have Archbishop Sheen’s burial place in New York, he would not be canonized by now.

I think his loud anti-commie stance has hurt his chances.

I still pray for his intercession 🙂

Considering the number of basic things the Vatican can no longer successfully recognize, the lack of recognizing Fulton Sheen as a saint is probably among the least damaging.

Pray for those in the Vatican, especially Leo, more especially if you are not impressed!

CAG:
“I think his loud anti-commie stance has hurt his chances.”
“The Glory of Being American” by Archbishop Sheen says it all.
Sheen was brilliantly clear and precise about communism.
It is good to know the unvarnished truth.

Agree 100 percent, Matthew. And the fact that it follows closely on the announcement of Dolan’s retirement also is interesting, to me at least.

Spellman still has allies in the Vatican more than 50 years after his death. Their memories run long.
