Still can’t make up my mind between feckless or he’s just part of the USA/Euro/South American liberal machine, with no individuality.

No guts. No glory. No crown. Frank the 2nd is quickly sliding down the list of popes to remember. Still praying for a holy CATHOLIC pope since 2013. Popes, like children, should be seen and rarely heard. Especially when they have only nonsense to speak.

So long as his mischief is limited to scolding leaders who have the good sense to ignore it, we’ll be fine in the long run.

This attitude goes back well beyond Francis. Benedict XV told the Austrian Emperor the pope was no longer blessing armies. Whether it’s the loss of the Papal States, the secularization of governments in formerly Catholic Europe, or developments in 20th century diplomacy, the papacy has long withdrawn from the notion of “swords about the cross”. Maybe that only works when the enemy is chiefly without rather than within.

No word on ¡Lio!’s position regarding Catholic politicians who invoke their religious beliefs to justify their votes for gay marriage and abortion ‘rights’ … Probably tomorrow’s homily.

Self-defense has no place in Holy Scripture for Pope Leo. His human dignity languishes while the barbarians are at the gate. The voice of non-violence was assassinated in Gandhi.

You can add Pope St. Pius V to the conversation. His vision at Lepanto should forever settle the question of legitimate right to self defense.
