Thought for the Day

An old European tradition is using state power to keep political power in the hands of the powers that be.  Many Europeans pride themselves at being on the political Left, at least by American standards. but they are instead deeply reactionary, ill equipped to meet new challenges.  So they build castles in the air, and rail at the United States, as they dance at the edge of a very deep abyss.

German law allows politicians to file criminal complaints against people who insult them. The current Chancellor of Germany has been in elective office since 2000. In that time, he has filed 5,000 criminal complaints – about 200 a year. He hires a contractor who culls the internet looking for them. (No clue how any have been resolved).

Patriotic parties have a fighting chance to win national elections in France in April 2027. Building up the infrastructure to seal the border and collar and deport troublesome aliens will be the challenging task. Among the simpler tasks would be to (1) strip the law codes of all provisions iwhich allow speech and publication to be penalized bar the dozen or so conventional ones (disturbing the peace, fraud, criminal solicitation, enforcement of defamation judgments, contempt of court, incitement to riot, school discipline, traffick in pornography, misappropriating state secrets, &c). (2) limit the applicability of anti discrimination law to (a) public sector employment, (b) provisions in union contracts which restrict or promote hiring and promotion of people with certain ascribed traits, (c) provision of medical services, (d) provision of legal services, (e) provision of services specifically for travelers; (3) limit tort liability for workplace harassment to activities which actually map to common crimes; (4) limit tort liability for terminations to (a) violations of provisions governing the civil service, (b) contract violations, (c) retaliation for availing oneself of benefits guaranteed by statutory law or contract. (5) condition access to common provision on ones employment history or that of a person to whom one was a dependent.

They can remember all that so-called freedom of speech when Sharia law is imposed in their countries. Good luck then saying anything.

And the level of idiocy goes up geometrically with the addition of academic degrees.

They are certain to know the word intersectional, but I venture to say that 95% of them have never read Orwell’s book which was required reading in high school in my day.

Frog. Meet pot.

We haven’t been doing too well here either.

Try criticizing the vax in 2021.
Try calling him “him” when he insists that he is she – just last year.

We may be further from the precipice, but we are demanding the same dance.

British Dramas where: a woman is home alone / without a phone /and the murderer is breaking in are:
Silly to most Americans (with firearms).
Virtuous to most Britons (without firearms).

Strange.

The value of free speech is the truth inherent in the word. The distance between the truth and falsehood is the measure of free speech. Especially in pornography as free speech, the damage done to the person in brain and in personality is horrific Pornography is addictive. How is that freedom. Pornography is freedom from freedom or imprisonment of one’s good nature. Crimes against Mother Nature. This example is the path to real law and order.
If he says he is a she, let him prove it for any lawsuit needs proof.
Proof is the remedy for freedom.
