My daughters got really tired of hearing “At some point, reality intrudes” from me while they were growing up. Usually, after they did something stupid and learned the lesson. So they got me a cap that says “Reality is undefeated.” I wear it with my sweatshirt that says “I really don’t care Margaret” in Latin. My daughters call it my “Tell us how you really feel” outfit.
For something like 30 years Minnesotans have asked “how has the Somalian community benefited Minnesota?” And we’ve never really gotten an answer.
Now I recognize that not every single Somalian is a bad person. But their community is responsible for at least hundreds of millions in fraud, neighborhoods in and near their communities have become hopelessly crime ridden, and the majority are outspoken in their hatred for the American and Christian ways of life (to the point where many of them actually actively support terrorism). You need a bit more than “some of them aren’t doing anything bad” to balance things out and get a net positive. This is even moreso the case when they act as a community, as could be seen in the last mayoral election in Minneapolis where one candidate was a Somalian who advertised himself as someone loyal to Somalia first, and who only lost because the incumbent was able to exploit Somalian tribal feuds.
But this is a state that’s been run by gangsters from day 1, so the feelings of the public at large matter little, especially when you are talking about the Twin Cities.
I grow tired of doing everything by ethnicity and group.
Maybe Somalis have a tendency to trouble and tribalism, but I’ll bet you could find the same reservations about Italians or Irish back in the day.
You keep things above board by being aware of ethnic tendencies but not bound by them. Yes, that Irishwoman may be hot tempered, but be prepared to accept the opposite when she shows that she is not.
America used to make great efforts to adjudicate on the merits of the individual and needs to resurrect this virtue. Don’t care what you look like or who your dad was so long as you do what you ought I’ll accept you.
However, the opposite must also be true. No free pass cuz your forefathers were done dirty or did great deeds. Neither your skin color nor your bloodline should save you. Just as neither should damn you either.
In short, the Somali thief AND any non Somali collaborator should BOTH be nailed to the wall.
PS fraud is a crime of “moral turpitude” under the immigration laws and should be rewarded with a revocation of green cards, where applicable.
