Is Carl Sagan talking about the metaphysical world, that is eternity? Is he mocking the faithful or is Sagan praising God in his ignorance?

Nobody was as convinced of the genius of Carl Sagan as was Sagan, himself. It never ceases to amaze me how many “scientists” can look at the wonders of this universe, especially the mathematical and physical constants, and maintain (publicly, at least) that it’s all just a cosmic accident.
