This could give support to the Old Law School joke:
A students become law professors.
B students become corporate lawyers.
C students become judges.
D students become contingency lawyers and drives Mercedes and out-earn them all.
I’m not sure how much truth there is to the joke. I think they become more or less of whatever they are to start out with. I have a good friend who was a judge for most of his career. He is a God-fearing man with a very temperate personality. He and I spent a a lot of time together. A couple of experiences that lay out the kind of man he is. I saw him at a restaurant where I was having lunch. He knew my wife pretty well and the woman I was having lunch with was obviously not my wife and he was trying to figure out a temperate way to ask me what I was doing out to lunch with a woman not my wife. He finally got around to asking me about the lunch. I then explained to him that it was my mother. She was an attractive woman even in her 60s. Needless to say that was a story that my mother loved.
This same judge is a Methodist and we had long religious conversations. I once said to him, “You are the most Catholic Methodist I know.” He kind of leaned back in his chair and was silent for a few moments and with a little smile on his face said “I am guessing you think that’s a compliment.” I assured him it was.
A good man with nine children all of whom have biblical names.
The joke in engineering is most engineering professors are professional students, never to tread (with dread) the real world…
There are some though that have one foot in the real world and one foot in academia. They are not surprisingly the best!
(but nobody, nobody dresses up like Elvis… lol)
I dunno, Thornhill attended Catholic schools and is married with seven kids. And I just know I’d hate the people who complained about him.
