Catholic always first, as citizens of the entire world as Jesus was and is a citizen of the world and eternity.

Cardinal Sarah was referring to those Poles who recognize that being Polish and Catholic is one and the same, as this has been true of most Poles down through the centuries.

Poland is in a battle for its soul. The present prime minister is an EU bootlicker who has sought to turn Poland into a vassal of Brussels. His party got only 30% f the vote that elected him…he managed to form a coalition. the newly elected Polish president is from the main opposition and he won’t let Tusk get what Tusk wants.

The West of Poland tends to be more disposed towards the EU than the East and South. The Church has been under pressure – there were priest abuse reports that diminished the standing of the Church. Tusk’s Civic Platform Party wanted to eliminate religious instruction in schools. too many young women are woke and Poland has had a declining birthrate. Much of the media is foreign owned. Soros owns the left wing rag Gazeta Wyborca.

Will Poland fall to the same fate as Ireland and Spain? Or will Poland persevere? Time will tell.

The “Poles first” jumped out at me, as it did to others in the comments section. Of course, I’d have put “Catholics first”; but, I readily admit that Cardinal Sarah knows what he’s doing more than me.

Plus, as Penguins Fan pointed out, the quote could be understood as saying, in effect, “You are Poles first – that is Catholics – and only then Europeans.”
