Hapless Bench of Bishops

Our bishops are like generals tirelessly preparing to re-fight World War 2.  Our bishops are caught in a time loop where the sixties never ended.  Catholicism survives in spite of them.

Gaslighting on immigration when Americans, especially American Catholics, are NOT AGAINST LEGAL IMMIGRATION..

(Provides an opportunity to sermonize, find something in the political party of death, not have to discuss actual issues, feel good about taking 1B dollars, not have to fix actual problems at home dioceses, not look in the mirror…)

For what’s it worth.

Throughout history the Church has had it’s bad actors or unreasonable leadership.
Our St. Michael’s Lent is coming to a close.

As it’s winding down the one important Truth that I’ve learned is that the Church is known as the Bride. Two Franciscions of the Renewal Priests have been our spiritual guides during this journey.

They spoke of St. padre Pio, St Francis of Asassi as only two who weathered storms within the Church, and kept the Bride symbolism and spirit as priority. Keeping her, through their sufferings, unblemished and Holy to meet the Groom when He comes.

Every opportunity to correct a superior or complain about the abuses they witnessed was personally quieted and put on the back burner.

Watchmen on the tower are important, however keeping the spotless bride in your soul to offer to the groom is critical for your personal scantification and ultimately of those who are attracted by the virgin purity which becomes manifested as gift, given by the Virgin of Virgins. When souls are won over by Her through you, the wedding party becomes even more glorious and jubilant.

St. Michael the Archangel …pray for us.

The USCCB is an example of the whole being less than the sum if it’s parts!

I think they fear the wrath of Fr. James Martin, SJ, if they said something. You can bet the usual suspects are behind the silence, e.g., Cupich, Dolan, McElroy, Tobin, now you can put Weisenburger in there since becoming an Archbishop, thanks Pope Francis for that parting gift!

I don’t mind bishops refraining from comment on topical questions, provided they stick to the lectionary. The trouble is, they’re not refraining. They’re quite responsive to the concerns of the generic sort of person who has salaried employment at a non-commercial enterprise. (I suspect it’s the work of lay staff who are never sanctioned for this freebooting).

Passable rule of thumb: when someone puts a modifier other than ‘procedural’ or ‘substantive’ in front of ‘justice’, they’re telling you their objects have nothing to do with justice.

How many people really pay attention to what the Useless Silly Corrupt Catholic Bishops put out?
Anthony Stine does at his YouTube channel. Michael Voris and his pencil used to erupt daily at his Vortex about some silliness or stupidity from the USCCB or the Vatican. I quit worrying about it. Go to Mass, pray, go to Confession, live by the precepts of the Church and ignore the bureaucracy as much as possible. We don’t worship them anyway.

How about a DOGE type review of the USCCB? HaHaHaHaHa…HaHa.
Can you imagine what would be found?

I think more likely that BleachBit and shredders would make a very sudden appearance…

I imagine they’d discover the budget was squandered on wheel-spinning exercises and that Parkinson’s Law is very real.

Meanwhile, the hapless bench of bishops appears to have at least a few with traces of a spine.

https://catholicvote.org/bishop-paprocki-archbishop-cordileone-urge-cardinal-cupich-to-drop-award-for-pro-abortion-sen-durbin/

“Two prominent U.S. bishops are publicly urging Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago to rescind plans to honor Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., with a “Lifetime Achievement Award,” citing the senator’s decades-long record of supporting abortion.

“On Sept. 19, Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield — Durbin’s home diocese — issued a blistering statement: “I was shocked to learn that the Archdiocese of Chicago plans to honor Senator Richard Durbin with a Lifetime Achievement Award through its Office of Human Dignity and Solidarity Immigration,” Paprocki said.

He stressed that Durbin’s record is incompatible with Catholic teaching (and also noted that Durbin has been barred from receiving communion in Springfield for more than 20 years).

“Given Senator Durbin’s long and consistent record of supporting legal abortion — including opposing legislation to protect children who survive failed abortions — this decision risks causing grave scandal, confusing the faithful about the Church’s unequivocal teaching on the sanctity of human life,” Bishop Paprocki wrote.

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco seconded these statements.

“Bishop Paprocki, who is Senator Dick Durbin’s bishop, has expressed shock that the Archdiocese plans to honor Senator Durbin who, although a self-professed Catholic, supports access to abortion so radically that he has even opposed legislation to protect babies born after an attempted abortion. Bishop Paprocki is correct that both clarity and unity are at risk. I hope this will be a clarion call to all members of the Body of Christ to speak out to make clear the grave evil that is the taking of innocent human life.”
