He’s a fan of the dullest franchise in baseball, though we would have known that Satan truly infiltrated the Church if he was a Yankee’s fan!

Matthew, the Pirates are the National League’s counterpart to the White Sox.

And I am sure the 2005 Series win offers a useful analogy to the gratuity of divine grace and love. A sports “euchatastrophe” if there ever was one.

Matthew, that’s funny, I never thought about it but how a lot of people think about the Yankees is similar to how a lot of people think about the Jesuits.

The issue of winners and losers can also include basic competency. People who know what they are doing. An incompetent builder could construct a stadium, a building, or a bridge the ends up collapsing. I want a competent pilot in any plane that I am riding in. Sometimes people can take other people down with them when they fail.

In obituaries, people add the “in lieu of flowers, please donate to. . .”. In several obits I have read here in Chicago, deceased White Sox fans will list a couple charities and, at the end, add “or to Jerry Reinsdorf (WS owner) so that he can afford to put a decent team on the field”.

God bless.
