Let that double Spirit drive from God’s Holy places spirits that are contrary to HIS. Courageous and steadfast, may Pope Leo the XIV lead God’s people to living waters.

Bah!
Every American imagines themselves as President once in a while. Not seriously, but certainly. I find it likely American priests are not immune from such fleeting fantasies.
I may be mistaken, but I believe Pope Leo is exactly the pope we need right now – sensible, highly intelligent, and overwhelmingly faithful. And he thinks before he speaks or writes.
God bless and protect him always – and yes, a double helping of the courage, faith, and joy of St. John Paul, the calm gentlemanly, diplomatic, wisdom of Pope Benedict, and the empathy for the poor of Pope Francis is what I pray for our good Pope Leo.
To the Bruised Optimist. As a young boy, I never imagined myself as President. I did imagine myself as an astronaut (not done), and then as a submarine engineer (close, was a reactor operator; and no, I never wanted to be Captain). I imagined myself doing great things, not being in a great position. So let’s give Pope Leo XIV a chance. Yes, there were some things in the homily he gave at his installation Mass that I found questionable. But let’s not pre-judge him. Pope Francis was the Marxist Peronist Caudillo. Pope Leo XIV is so far not acting like that; however, it’s to early to judge.
My comment was not a criticism of the pope.
It is a reflection that Americans, because of the greater opportunity available in America, can seldom refrain from imagining themselves as doing great things.
Such imaginings need not be terribly serious. Imagination is very different from machination.
