All she had to do was be quiet. Why was that too much? Ignorance? Pride? Arrogance? Indoctrination? All of the before mentioned? I have to admit, I don’t even know what she means by her statement re: all our flags. Can someone explain it? I get the idea that she is not fond of the Trump administration.

Defiance and disrespect of the current Administration is a growing trend among senior women officers. The officer corps must be purged of every single Democrat if this is how they are going to behave. Indeed, if they defy and show disrespect in this way, then how can they be trusted to lead those under them who have weapons? They are a danger which must be excised.

“Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield reportedly refused to display pictures of POTUS and SECDEF at NATO HQ. Furthermore, she held an “all hands” meeting where she stated, ‘we will wait them out for 4 years.’ Consequently, she has been relieved of duty.”

Donald, this is not relevant to your post, but we need a separate on on the loss of the USS Thresher SSN-593 with all hands on board on April 10, 1963, some 62 years ago yesterday. I don’t want liberal progressive women like Colonel Susannah Myers or Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield in charge of troops or sailors or Marines who have to put their lives in the way of danger and these United States. They are unworthy of the honor of leading such men.

Can you imagine the reaction if an officer defied the Biden administration and:
* refused to use they / them
* declined to fly the rainbow flag
* called a soldier by their biological sex
* stated publicly that Biden was not wonderful
* pointed out that Afghanistan was disgraceful

The good officers and soldiers kept their mouths shut because they knew the leftists would gladly make them examples.

Sanity’s back, lefties. Deal with it.

Not sure I trust a snippet from an e-mail and haven’t been quite clear what the context was. (Some of the upset over her remarks seems overdone. Not so Chatfield’s remarks).

The late Margaret Chase Smith lobbied assiduously for women’s auxilliary forces to be merged into the regular military and succeeded before she was voted out of office. I’d suggest it was a mistake as performance scores had to be gender-normed. Twenty-some years ago, the quondam lady Marine in my office amiably yapped to me “Oh, they have to do that or they’d have to discharge all the women”. The Democratic Party fancies the military is a toy theatre for their social fantasies and patronage regime, so all manner of measures have pumped up the share of women in the ranks to 16% of the total. If the Democrats and their minions in the bureaucracy were agents of China, what would they do differently?

Confused about the controversy at hand, but I’d wager if the military were thoroughly focused on building and maintaining an efficient fighting force, the odds are about 6:1 that Col. Meyers would be in a civilian occupation or would be a 2d Lieutenant in a support staff unit.

Evidently, there’s a reason why the AWFL acronym won’t go away. (That’s Affluent White Feminist Liberal.) I just want them to go away from the military.

“Of course there is only one flag an American serving officer should care about.”

For all that I know what you mean, …that isn’t the impression that I had during my own time in the military. Between Clinton and Bush, …the military had placed almost as much emphasis on military leaders as diplomats as it did on fighting competence. ..Read General Franks’ autobiography.

“…if the military were thoroughly focused on building and maintaining an efficient fighting force, …”

That’s a mighty big IF.
Being “inclusive” was rather a big deal when I began ROTC in ’95. When a lady general talked about PT standards (on Fox, I think) in ’97, I got curious. I had expected some disparity, yet was shocked: Starting with raw scores, …my result from female standards was almost half again better than that from the men’s. Ouch.
..No wonder a few of our most vigorous young ladies got awards…..
My duty years demonstrated how the same mentality permeated most concerns.

The thing you have to understand is that most leftists live in a world where they have never received the slightest amount of pushback. Let me tell you, in academia there are professors who will complain for years at the “injustices” they suffered when what actually happened is that the professor went on a rant against whites or Christians and then had someone say maybe he should keep his opinions to himself. If mere disagreement is something that they have difficulty imagining, they truly cannot comprehend being fired.

A Vice Admiral being relieved for insubordination is very serious, especially because she was at NATO HQ. She will be either quietly retired or be courts martialed. I suspect she will lose a star either way.
Admiral Chatfield from reading her CV, had an impressive career. All she had to do was keep her opinions to herself. As a retired Naval officer, she is an embarrassment to the rest of us active ore retired.

Methinks Col Meyers has been in the Arctic too long. Again another stupid commanding officer. In my day male or female prospective COs and Flags were warned not to be full of themselves. Beware of the three Is. “I am important; then I am invincible; lastly I am invisible”.
As far as flags flown at Thule one would have to know the Status of Forces Agreement. Per Wikipedia:
Thule Greenland is a joint US-Denmark baseIt was built following a 1951 defense agreement between Denmark and the United States, allowing the U.S. to operate the base under a NATO frameworkThe base supports missile warning, missile defense, and space surveillance operations for both the U.S. and NATO

Rudolf,
..At the risk of glorying in someone’s distress….
I will be impressed if I ever see a college actually fire a professor for criticizing whites, men, or Christians. Such treatment usually runs the other direction.

Chatfield will probably be quietly retired ( no parade) at the permanent two star rank and enjoy a position of carping military critic on CNN or MSNBC.
