From Wikipedia entry on Typology (theology):
Typology in Christian theology and biblical exegesis is a doctrine or theory concerning the relationship of the Old Testament to the New Testament. Events, persons or statements in the Old Testament are seen as types prefiguring or superseded by antitypes, events or aspects of Christ or his revelation described in the New Testament. For example, Jonah may be seen as the type of Christ in that he emerged from the fish’s belly and thus appeared to rise from death.
In the fullest version of the theory of typology, the whole purpose of the Old Testament is viewed as merely the provision of types for Christ, the antitype or fulfillment.

I’m going to use Dr. Samuel Johnson’s well-worn witticism, only adapted to “Lizzie”: “A farm-belt Protestant expounding on the Fathers is like a dog going about on its hinder legs: it’s a thing done badly, but one is astounded that it is done at all.”
As I was reminded by the radio today, I don’t need every answer. The Church has been interrogated from within and without for two millennia.
Thus, most “gotcha” moments against the Church are centuries too late and already rebutted by people whose names begin with “St”!
“Lizzie” is a chronic annoyance on X. Rather like ants in the kitchen. Never right. Never gone.
