Pray For Us Jessica

It is easy, too easy, to get cynical about the Church due to the misdeeds of clergy at the top.  Then you read about someone like Jessica Hanna who walked her own Via Dolorosa out of love for Christ and her child and you understand deep in your bones the glory and grandeur of being a follower of Christ.  A good thing to remember during Lent and in all seasons of the Church.

Praying for her husband and small children she left behind. I’m sure that would have been the hardest cross to hear for her.

I’ve followed her story on Instagram, and her extraordinary faith through her cancer battle was something not of this world.

Jessica pray for us.

Ask to name the great ladies of America and you will get Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton and Mother Frances Cabrini and Mother Marianne Cope and Mother Theodore Guerin. There is an instinct to call them Mother as a title even nobler than Saint. It is a reverberation from the Cross, when the Son gave us nothing less than a Mother. It was his last word to the human race before he died.”

When Thomas Solanus asks why Mom had to die, Dad will have the privilege of saying “she died to save you from evil men who would have killed you without a second thought.”
