Well, I just read about this and it’s not entirely true what the company is claiming:

“This is a grey wolf with an edited genome, not a dire wolf.”

So it’s a grey wolf with a light coat. Marketed by the man who wrote “Game of Thrones” and who happens to own shares in “Colossal Laboratories and Biosciences” – the American Science startup who is claiming they brought make an extinct species of wolf…

It’s timely though because it brings into question gender ideology. Just because a man dresses as a woman or a woman dresses as a man, it does not infact make them that gender.

As the article said: “what makes a species is more than just skin deep.”

Just because “you can do something”, doesn’t mean you should.
Our morality has degraded to the point where it’s said “if we don’t -someone else will”.

I know they’re exaggerating their accomplishment, but it’s like they’ve not heard of Jurassic Park.

“The kind of control you’re attempting is just not possible”–Dr. Malcolm character. My favorite and most used line from Jurassic Park (although “You went ahead and did it and didn’t stop to ask whether you should” is right up there).

I have no problem with trying to bring back recently-extinct and relatively harmless critters like the Alderney or the dodo. I’m not looking forward to meeting an arsinothere or archaetherium on my front lawn. (The latter BTW was a 6-foot-high hog, apparently semi-carnivorous: another way on becoming one with my bacon.)

Did it ever occur to these jokers the dire wolf might have become extinct because our ancestors regarded it as a threat to their lives and safety?

I have heard that a man has been cloned in China.

I viewed the secular web article on this idiocy. Happily, most opinions were that this was stupid and that people were blatantly ignoring sci-fi warnings.
Other comments were from shallow thinkers that said something profound – like “I’m hungry like the wolf”

The fact that this was done through the process of gene editing rather than trying to get some DNA from a frozen extinct carcass, should be especially cautionary. The concept of “Super Soldier” takes us right back to Hitler, Himmler and the elite SS.
