🤦🏻♀️ One word: excommunication
I suppose His Eminence would explain that by attending that Iftar meal he was showing respect for a part of the community and increasing understanding of a minority group.
When do you suppose was the last time His Eminence deigned to drop by a pancake breakfast held by any of the remaining Latin Mass communities in his Archdiocese? Does anyone think that, in his thirst for reaching out to misunderstood minorities, he might make it to one of their Friday Fish Fries?
Somehow, I believe there are limits to His Eminence’s desire to show respect and increase understanding…
I was at a professional development conference on Monday (all Catholic school teachers), and the continued fetishizing of “interreligious dialogue” at the expense of actually practicing our own faith is endemic to our Intellectual Superiors™. Barely mentioned how we should witness our own faith but rather how we should respect others’.
So when I see things like this, it’s just a reminder that we need to keep our own spiritual affairs in order and the shepherds and other so-called “leaders” will have a lot to answer for in the end.
I’m glad it’s Lent. Memento Mori.
