Father Michael Petkosek’s short essay has been making the rounds on Twitter / X and Facebook. So far Facebook hasn’t censored me for posting it. But it continues censorship in a great many other things from posting about climate change being fictional to posting about Zelenskyy’s wealth.
If the Democrats ever get control again, the blowback will be violent.
Atheistic Communism is evil, as atheism denies the sovereign personhood of every human being as well as the free will and reason in the person. Nihilism.
Speaking of things showing up on social media, some UK sources are posting that Keir Starmer and the little Ukrainian thug made a deal for Ukrainian rare earth minerals before Trump’s inauguration. Needless to say, if that is true, the US official reaction could be epic, as it would conclusively prove that the entire visit to the Oval Office was Kabuki theater.
A most difficult conflict for the outsiders. During the cold war, matters were reduced to moral considerations, i.e. Communists were evil and needed to be resisted at all costs including the risk of nuclear war. Today, peace is the cry and if that means ignoring immorality in epic proportions, so be it. This is not Putin’s first land grab nor will it be his last. At some point the last man (country) will be thrown from the sled to the ravenous wolf but by then the wolf has already won.
Donald:
Agreed. If I thought Putin the Wolf would be glutted with Ukraine, that he was like a Hadrian or Aurelian trying to rationalize the “limes” of his empire at defensible frontiers, it would be one thing. But he’s more like a Mongol Khan (the mentors of the first tsars BTW) and intends to retake all Ukraine, the Baltic states (whose history is solidly Western and non-Slavic) and re-establish the Soviet empire, to live by plundering the resources of weaker nations and “Russify” their children to extend the life of his (demographically) dying state.
Q: How much damage to our interests could he do in the next generation before that collapse and how do we minimize it?
I would tend to believe Father Michael over any war expert.
I’m already reading stories of Zelenskyy backtracking and saying he is now open to sign a minerals deal with US. He is so desperate it’s almost pathetic. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for the Ukrainian people. Maybe once they achieve a ceasefire the people will demand a general election.
