Widespread use of birth control and easy divorce also paved the way for a war on the family, the basic building block of all human civilization. In the sacrament of marriage it is man and wife who are the ministers of the sacrament to each other. Always some marriages have sadly failed, but the exception has come close to being the rule for marriages. Serial monogamy can not successfully replace life long marriage as the way almost all adult humans were intended by God to live.

You hit on a big thing – it’s the widespread *use* of birth control, not the widespread availability or even increased effectiveness. There have always been methods. The difference between having 8 children and 1 child, barring physical complications, is the willingness over a lifetime.
Sin harms us physically – the side effects for the Pill are as long as a toilet paper roll.
Let’s not forget that the Pill acts as an abortifacient part-time by making the uterus a sterile barren environment and preventing the fertilised egg from implanting into the womb. The can happen anywhere between 2%_65% of a woman’s cycle.
This is important because the old high-dose contraceptive Pills used to only be contraceptive- changed the cervical mucus and tricked the woman’s fertility into behaving as though it was continuously pregnant. However today, of the 200 low-dose types and varieties of Pill sold ALL acts as an abortifacient because the egg can get fertilised but doesn’t survive the implant phase.
This is not disclosed to women and the way pharmaceuticals get around it is by saying the fertilised egg is only a human when it has implanted into the uterus, not when the egg fertilises the sperm and creates a unique human being and soul.
The other cover up is the fact that when they release a new type of Pill, they usually do the trials of on poor women in third world countries, aided and covered up by corrupt local government. Eg Norplant was tested in Bangladesh and they refused to remove it even though women were suffering from horrible side effects, and Korean women weren’t even told that Norplant was only in its trial phase. The Norplant trial was managed by the Population Council and funded by…drumroll…USAID.
Lots of unethical activity by governments, Big Pharma, population control organisations.
Ezabelle – “It’s for the Greater Good.” /s
If I had the price (metaphorically) of every bill of goods I bought when I was young returned to me, Musk would be coming to me for advice.
OT, we’ve a shirt-tail whose wife has just given birth. The baby was born at 32 weeks and weighs 3.5 lbs. One silver lining is that her breathing is satisfactory. She’s due to be in the neonatal intensive care for 3-4 weeks, knock on wood. Would appreciate prayers.
I have to disagree with her. Husbands are not typically the initiators of divorce proceedings and this tendency is more pronounced when a couple has children. Also, family courts are not shy about extracting funds from fathers.

In our own time, many children are born out-of-wedlock, of course. Even in those circumstances, a marriage proposal from a sire is often not welcome.
South coast – agree. The old “greater good” Marxist worldview. You can’t flush the poison out once it’s been circulating for over a century. A single person doesn’t matter. A collective population matters. Make sense of that if you can.
And yet, Jesus Christ would still have died for our sins even if there was only one single human being created on earth.
God gave Adam Eve, the Mother of the Living as his wife. As Eve’s husband, Adam was to have provided for her. Nothing has changed for adult persons.
All souls created by “their Creator” belong to “their Creator” in Justice. Man’s soul is infused at procreation and endowed with free will, reason, and sovereign personhood; that is, at fertilization of the egg by the sperm when a newly begotten human being begins his or her existence.
Husbands are not typically the initiators of divorce proceedings
Because they will not get off the dime Art. In almost all divorce proceedings in which I have been professionally involved over the past four decades, the husband wanted to get divorced just as much as the wife, but simply would not initiate the proceedings, often, I suspect, because then they would be required to pay child support by the Court, the parties usually having separated by that time.
Would appreciate prayers.
Prayers on the way Art.
