Our Hapless Bench of Bishops Wheel Into Action

I missed the part of the Gospels where Christ commanded His Disciples to get gold from Caesar to spend on others.

Maybe joining the cartels in a class action suit would save money on court costs?
This is a bad look. Very bad. I wonder how many bishops signed off on this. This is the problem with bureaucracies.

Companies do RIFs and cut costs all the time for reasons of financial exigency. The United States government is *trillions* of dollars in debt. If that isn’t financial exigency, I don’t know what is. The USCCB bureaucracy is only chasing the money and doesn’t actually care about the people they claim to be serving here.

It must be horrifying for them to even think they may have to turn to faithful and ask bc I hope it’s sandwiched w what they think, being the synodal year and all

Disgusting, but not at all surprising. Why, several luxurious Chancery mansions might have to be sold! Dozens of useless bureaucratic minions might have to get real jobs! Bishops might have to make their own beds! Oh, the humanity!

I wonder if the clowns who decided to file this suit understand that they have just made all of Catholic Charities’ financial records relevant evidence? Let the discovery commence! 🍿

Awesome! Information like this is one of the big reasons I read this blog! Thanks Frank!

Michael Hichborn over at The Lepanto Institute recently did a piece on the “charitable” salaries of the various CEOs of Catholic Charities branches … I’m interested to find out how many members of the clergy and religious are on their payrolls.

Lepanto

So, what percentage of the pewsitters hear about this lawsuit and decide to forego this year’s Bishop’s appeal?

Grasping and petty – good look for evangelization, right?

Good group to avoid funding.

CAG,

I specifically avoid the Bishop’s appeal in my home diocese because as an employee ultimately of said diocese, I’m already underpaid and they are essentially getting my money in time and talent. Ditto my Missus.

All taxes belong to the taxpayers even as the administration administers the taxes. Put it on the ballot.

I’m unsure how the bishops can justify demanding taxpayers continue to fund at former levels, when the refugee shelters have seen the number of claimants drop into the basement. In El Paso, Texas for example, one Catholic Charities shelter processed around 3000 refugees this past January. Since Trump’s inauguration, those numbers have imploded, and that same shelter is currently processing an average of 12 refugees per day— one tenth of their former volume.

I’m not sure how our bishops can demand that taxpayers continue to maintain them in the manner to which they’ve become accustomed, when they’re only doing 1/10th of the job they were being paid for.

Scratching my head – How can they sue? So the “United States” Conference of Catholic Bishops is suing the “United States” government for money collected through “United-States” tax-payers to pay for illegal “Non-United States” citizens. Which part of this adds up? Government Funding is a privilege not a right.

And saying this insanity goes ahead, the Church money they will spend in legal fees…? That comes from donations… again, it’s not their money.

And say they pull off this insanity- if they win this will set a precedent for organisations like Planned Parenthood to follow suit when government cuts their funding…

“…the Church money they will spend in legal fees…? That comes from donations… again, it’s not their money.”

Right! They’re stealing $1 million from us to pay their lawyers to steal $100 million from taxpayers (which include us) … I guess we should be grateful that they’re spreading the theft around!

All I can think is maybe they’re under contract? How else could they consider themselves entitled to this money?

What did Jesus tell His disciples (and by extension, their successors, our Bishops) to do? Social justice nonsense? Aiding and abetting illegal immigration? Suing Caesar for money?

OR this? Matthew 28:19-20:

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Until the Institutional Church is purified of this social justice nonsense, Bishops will continue to have an excuse to get into bed with Caesar. The pimary purpose of the Church is the salvation of souls. John chapter 6:

26 Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

The Gospel ain’t about filled bellies and creature comforts. It’s about conversion and repentance, righteousness and holiness. “Take up your cross and follow Me” is NOT a suggestion (as my 2nd AA sponsor always reminded me).

BTW why can’t our Bishops do any miracles nowadays? They want silver and gold. They cannot say as Peter did in Acts 3:6, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

Catholic Charities had a slick ad on FOX NEWS tonight touting all they do. It was on yesterday eve also.” Catholic Charities helping immigrants start new lives.” They forgot to say Illegal.

Outstanding point.

“ A federal judge on Thursday delivered a major blow to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), denying their attempt to force the Trump administration into continuing taxpayer funding for their massive refugee resettlement operations.”

“Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, rejected the bishops’ request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) that would have forced the administration to immediately restore funding.” -The Gateway Pundit 2/20/25

Do you even care about people? Many of these immigrants are little children. Do they not matter? are your hearts so hard? Nevertheless, America has the right to restrict drugs and drug dealers from murdering our children. I pray that the innocent children caught up in this mess are protected.
