As much as I dislike Milley and would love to see him retire as on a private’s pension or none at all, I am not a fan of removing evidence of past regimes.
We will not always have the upper hand and we have an obligation to be better people than our adversaries.

CAG- the photo suggests that the portraits all who have held that particular post are hung there. If that is the case, he ought to be there.
If he was only hung there as a special honor, that is entirely different and he should be removed.
We have a place in the church basement where photos of all the priests who have served the parish are hung. I would not approve of a gap there either.

In the Palace of the Doges in Venice are portraits of all the men who have held that office. When one was executed as a traitor, they left an unmarked black curtain as a placeholder – and reminder to his successors.
I believe that 2nd lieutenant is as low as he can be legally reduced. I would be satisfied with that. Particularly if he were gifted with a toilet brush and sent to an Undisclosed Location.
