He Who Laughs Last

Richly deserved.  They were nothing but pawns in the weaponization of the Federal government against Trump.

Trump absolutely did the right thing, issuing their pardons on his first day. It is grotesque that these people were still incarcerated, without a trial, for almost four years— for what would be for many of them simply misdemeanor trespassing charges. How can such a thing have happened in a nation with a Bill of Rights and the rule of law?

I hope that these released prisoners will, if possible, take the Biden Crime Family to court in a civil suit, and financially destroy that family forever. Maybe some well-meaning Catholic lawyers could take on a pro bono case. Hint. Hint. Hint. 😉

Clinton, I believe it happened because, by nature, conservative people tend to trust the authority figures in their society, and simply seek to live their lives in peace and freedom. Conservatives generally believe their freedoms are given by God, and that following God’s commands (natural law, if you will) leads to a far happier existence than not following them, both in this life and the next. By contrast, the creatures we call leftists are by nature authoritarians, who seek total control over others as their route to secular happiness. The vast majority of them do not believe in the afterlife and, in my opinion at least, they hate us as much because they know in their hearts that their world view is wrong as for any other reason, actual or purported.

Against this backdrop, it’s easy to see how the majority of folks, the conservatives or “normies” in current parlance, sat by and either didn’t notice the gradual takeover of those trusted institutions by our enemies, or noticed, but feared to say or do anything to stop it. I certainly hope we learned our lesson in time.

Frank- the term “normies” worries me. It makes me think of St Anthony’s warning that those who are mad will persecute the sane. The abnormal instead of the exceptional is lauded and they enshrine their abnormality as normal in the psychology standards.
Some may have “learned out lesson” but we are a long way from recovery.

I will now make myself unpopular by stating that I believe, and have always believed, that those who entered the Capitol that day were, at that moment, idiots. (I base this on having been an idiot, myself, back in the Sixties.) That being said, they did NOT deserve what has been done to them, as Americans, and as human beings. To conclude, I must add that, if Entering the Capitol as an Idiot were an actual crime, those marble halls would be an abode of bats and empty air.

They were idiots, but imprisonment without trial…come on…

It is interesting how many of the people who claim to be upset by Jan 6 have had little, if anything, to say about the 2020 “Summer of Love” riots which were far more deadly and destructive. Former VP Harris was involved in raising bail for the 2020 “Summer of Love” rioters. Often the Democratic Party complains about subjects where they are the worst offenders. This is particularly true of the recent confirmation hearings.

Ezabelle, as I said, they did not deserve what has been done to them.

GregB, you are of course correct. I’d only like to add my observation that while both VP Harris and members of her staff were very public about contributing to funds to both bail out those arrested for rioting and arson and pay for legal defense; her campaign also publicly asserted that any violence and arson was due to ‘white supremecist’ elements in the “mostly peaceful” crowds.

Which makes me wonder— if Harris and her campaign staffers honestly thought the majority of the violence and arson was committed by white supremecists, then why on earth would they contribute one dime to bail them out and pay their lawyers?

As of late yesterday, I was seeing posts on X, from people claiming to be immediate family of J6 political prisoners, who said the DC “authorities” were refusing to release anyone from the DC jail known as the Gulag by the victims. They also claimed the jail guards were assaulting prisoners and their families who came with copies of the pardon seeking release of their loved ones.

If this is even partially true, President Trump obviously needs to intervene. I’m thinking Federal troops, as was done in the desegregation battles of the 1960s.
