U.S. — Democrats have warned that if elected a second time, Donald Trump will be an evil dictator just like Adolf Hitler. When asked why Trump didn’t become Hitler during his first term, Democrats explained that he simply forgot.
“Trump meant to be Hitler, but he forgot,” explained Vice President Harris in a press conference at the White House. “Being Hitler just totally slipped his mind. Make no mistake, if Trump is elected again, he absolutely plans to turn into Hitler and probably will write himself a reminder this time.”
According to retired General John Kelly, former President Trump often talked about how he kept meaning to find time to be Hitler, but he kept getting distracted by other things. “On several occasions, Trump told me word for word, ‘This is it. This is the week I’m going to go be Hitler.’ But then, Trump would get started doing something like handing out candy to Minions and he would completely forget,” explained Kelly. “This time he has written himself lots of notes telling himself to not forget to turn into literal Hitler. It’s terrifying.”

I imagine the reasoning is something like how they claim that the good economy under Trump is really due to Obama, and the bad economy under Biden is really due to Trump.
Anything good is a result of the last democrat in office, and anything bad is a result of the last republican in office. So Trump would have been Hitler, but Obama’s policies were just so solid that they prevented him, or something.
My records show that in January 2017, I was confident I could retire in 2027, but certainly not before the middle of the ’20s. Because of the improvements in my investments in the Trump years, I actually retired in 2022, with plenty of income and savings.
Gen. Kelly visited our ship twice: once before he was CoS (as the Guest of Honor at a change of command) and once while CoS (when Pres. Trump and Melania visited the ship). The second time, his body language and demeanor were pretty stand-offish. It was clear later on, from what I heard, that there was a deep visceral dislike on the part of the retired General for Pres. Trump.
But then again, maybe like Gen. Matthis, he had simply bought into the K Street “consulting” gravy train and resented the new approach; and then he found things to dislike and complain about.
I can’t help thinking that Gen. “Chesty” Puller (or Gen. Smedley “War Is a Racket” Butler) would have reacted very differently.
I wonder what motivated John Kelly to do this. Why and when makes sense. Clearly they’re worried. But can’t figure out why he has said this.
He’s been saying this for years. Trump canned him because he seemed confused as to who was President and I think his pride was bruised. Trump’s a chatterer and very argumentative. I can imagine that in a bull session with Kelly he said a lot of dubious things that he didn’t mean. With Trump one should always look at what he does rather than the ephemera he constantly spouts.
Also, Trump loves the rank and file of our military, while refusing to hold the Brass in awe. Too many flag officers confuse themselves with God and do not appreciate being treated as a mere mortal.
In my opinion, Don is right on the money about this! The generals and admirals I’ve come into contact with (I’ve never directly worked for one) have with one exception been almost insufferable.
They will spout off for minutes on end, to little if any point, in an apparent love of hearing themselves talk (and probably enjoying the mandatory “rapt attention” of their captive staff officer audience); they will espouse “bold new ideas” (repeatedly tried and usually failures); and they will not listen to what you say, no matter how tactfully presented, if it doesn’t align with what they want.
The brass of the administrative state are just the same, in my experience. That includes the hubris filled liar Mayorkas.
