PopeWatch; Word Salad

Word salad is a tool by those who are hopelessly out of their depth or who wish to deceive.  Pope Francis is a classic example of a man with limited ability promoted far beyond his merits.

The very notion of a synod on synodality is akin to all my colleagues and I having professional development about professional development. A conference about conferences.

It has been really disheartening to listen to our parish priests and local bishops unironically parrot how “great” such a synod is for the future of the Church, etc. I wanted to yell from the pews “hey, you do realize how dumb this all sounds, right?”

Let your word be ‘YesYes‘ or ‘NoNo‘; anything more than this comes from the evil one.”

Synodality is meant to confuse. Beware, the devil likes to fish in troubled waters.

Josh, my sentiments exactly. Every time I hear that absurd label I chuckle and shake my head. I can’t believe people with putative intelligence take it seriously. Add to that the fact that no two people afflicted with “Synodality Syndrome” (my term) can actually define the word, and you have a recipe for Kabuki theater.

Word salads are also a sign of mental illness. I don’t know if Francis is that way or not, but the folks in the church who accept his gobbledegook as manna from heaven ought to wonder about their own sanity.

“The very notion of a synod on synodality is akin to all my colleagues and I having professional development about professional development. A conference about conferences.”

Let us hope that the corollary to this rule applies, that being, if you want to kill something give it to a committee.

Something tells me that the Holy Spirit does not need to assure that all stakeholders including those that don’t believe have their say.

Truthfully, I have walked away from this nonsense. I won’t contribute any money, and I won’t attend a Novus Ordo anything. It’s becoming more and more E-pi$$-copalian every day. Vote with your feet and your pocketbook. This Pope and his machinations – It’s all imbecile buffoonery.

Will the Synod on Synodality be run by the Dicastery of Redundancy Dicastery?

I’m probably dating myself, but anyone else remember Smurfs?

The way they spoke reminds me of synod-speak.

Increased smurfiness will Smurf us to a smurfier church in which all the smurfy members can revel in an increased smurfodality.

So, Smurf to it!

Before he died suddenly of a heart attack, a lay brother in my late younger brother’s religious order would have called this Synod “mental masturbation”.

The Vatican badly needs an Inspector General function to root out fraud, waste, and abuse. This Synod is a classic example of FWA.

Skip the salad. “Common Dignity of baptism?”
