Go here to read the story. Interesting that this involves a priest in Argentina. Whenever Argentina is involved, this Pontificate enters bizarro world. The idea that a priest who has just been convicted of abusing minors should be restored as a priest definitely is bizarre. That the effort was reversed, for the moment, may be a hopeful sign.

Douay-Rheims Bible Mt. 6:3
*But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth.*
Of course this is great advice when being charitable, however it is a poor application when dealing with real people whom, allegedly, suffered from a wolf masquerading as a Holy Catholic Priest. I can’t imagine the heartbreak of the parents as the two hands fumble, not knowing what the other is doing.
God have mercy on us all and especially those who are suffering from this fiasco.
Could it be someone in that town has a spine and just decided to use it?
Non-optimistic side of me is betting on petty politics, but hope remains…
Agree with TBO – politics at play here. Not confident keeping the priest out had something to do with his history of abusing minors but rather Francis didn’t want him there. He picks and chooses.
One of the things discussed by our Protestant Evangelical Reformed friends in the aftermath of 73-year old married and grandfather Dr. Steve Lawson’s “inappropriate 5-year relationship” with a 20-something year old girl is the Biblical qualifications of deacons, elders (presbyters or priests) and overseers (bishops) given in 1st Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9. This isn’t rocket science, Folks. The Biblical qualifications are clear, and sex pervert abuser isn’t one of them. Not even the Pope has the authority to contravene that.
BTW, you can read all about the Steve Lawson situation here:
