Mistake

Why give Trump a clear shot at scoring points with Catholics?  A sign of the disdain she has demonstrated for Catholics?  Disdain in politics is usually an expensive luxury.

Hopefully a series of mistakes will have turned out to be answered prayers. May this one be one of many to come.

May the words of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
be true for Harris and the US;

“No. The woman who was to be the first female President of the United States had been aborted.”

Her response to the first Lady at the time, Hillary, when she quipped to our Saint; “What do you think about a woman becoming President?”

My paraphrasing.

From memory…As long as America supports abortion it has no future. (?) – St. Teresa of Calcutta.

We are living on borrowed time.

btw…
I’m not fearful. My hope is to be ready to help others when Satans hour is near the end and Justice comes to the world.

Abortion, imo, is pushing the patience of our extremely patient Father.

She isn’t the first POTUS candidate to pass on the event; in 1984 Walter Mondale declined the invitation saying he needed to concentrate on preparing for an upcoming debate with Ronald Reagan (who did attend). It obviously didn’t help Mondale any.

In 1996 neither Bill Clinton nor Bob Dole were invited (reportedly due to Cardinal O’Connor’s displeasure with Clinton’s actions regarding abortion) but VPOTUS candidates Al Gore and Jack Kemp took their places. This happened again in 2004 when neither George W. Bush nor John Kerry were invited.

I suspect Tim Walz would not want to attend either, regarding Al Gore and Jack Kemp attending in 1996. It would be political suicide to brag about restoring “reproductive rights” at a Catholic function. Since Reagan attended without Mondale, could Trump be invited without Harris?

Perhaps Harris imagines that none of her supporters are there and that none of them will care. I think she is wrong.

Many of those at the high class Catholic events are blue Catholics. Since their Catholic identity is not based so much on Tradition as their own traditions, I think at least some will see her absence as a snub.

Too bad for her. A photo of her and Dolan laughing together would probably score points with blue Catholics.

Well, Dolan shouldn’t be laughing about anything with her. She is campaigning on undoing the most significant Catholic legislation is 50 years.

There are few, if any, events more socially awkward than the Al Smith Dinner, methinks. Sitting down to dine, on camera, with some of the slimiest people out there? No, thanks, says I.

Maybe she thinks that with the Pope and most of the Vatican rooting for her, what’s the use. The fact that she would even be allowed to attend a Catholic event, let alone invited, is disgusting.

I came on the tail end of a Harris sound bite just as she was saying, “A woman should decide whether the fetus will come to full term.” No hiding behind the word Abortion, she was spelling it out.
