Usually Larry was good as gold out in public. One time we were in a crowded mall when he was young, and he started to run off after something spooked him or attracted his attention. I tackled him before he got lost in the crowd. I can imagine what on lookers probably thought. Since my son was safe and back with the family, I couldn’t care less. My biggest nightmare was ever that Larry would get separated from the family and come to harm. Thank the Lord that never happened.

Most people who don’t have an autistic family member would be ignorant. I admit that I read the headline and thought Walz was being heavy handed. Then I read your commentary Don and understood. It must be very difficult having a grown son with an intellectual disability. God Bless every parent who faces these struggles.
Well… by Walz’s own standards, he should receive a visit from a state functionary who will render an expert opinion (based on generalities) on whether he is parenting this specific child within proper state parameters.
That is what any other parent in these blue states has to worry about when daring to do something that might be considered controversial with a child in public. The power of the administrative state is bloated and drunk with power, with predictable results.
Mr. Walz is in no danger though – he is one of the special people.
Note, Walz is on one side, the youth’s sister on the other. Walz was visibly angry with his son, the sister was not.
My daughter (28) is autistic but generally behaves well in public also. We’ve never had issues with her bolting or running away from us but it took a LONG time for me to be comfortable with letting her cross the street on her own, because she tended to be oblivious to her surroundings at times. She is currently training for a job at an “inclusion” coffee shop that caters to families with children on the spectrum and that also happens to serve really good food. Fingers crossed that she does well!
Prayers for your sister Elaine- sounds wonderful.
Correction – I meant to say your daughter. (I need a coffee) 🤦🏻♀️
Don’t really care about any politician’s family including this one. It is Walz, an old time weird radical that I despise.
