So were the looters a mixture of whites, Asians, Muslim, Hispanics, and blacks? Or were they predominately Hispanic and black? Yup, I’ll now be accused of racism for asking that question. Here’s the thing, though: when you let illegal immigrants across the border, you invite their gangsters and drug lords into our country. And when you get poor black people addicted to free handouts from the government, then you foster a culture of entitlement, the “I deserve to take from the rich man” mentality. Now maybe that’s not what happened here. Maybe this is just random looting and pillaging by an indiscriminate mixture of whites, Asians, Muslims, Hispanics, blacks, etc. But knowing who and what the looters and pillagers were would be noteworthy, I think. And we’ll never find out from the news media. But if they were white supremacists, the news announcements would be never ending.

It would help in many places to transfer policing functions to county government and consortia of counties. That’s less true in California where the state in general is run by people who have no business in public office.

9 hours? The police could respond to something three states away in that time. Why would it be 9 hours? There has to be a reason.

It’s Oakland. If the usual rules of thumb apply,. the crowd was 75% black, 14% hispanic, 11% other.

We should note that during the gold rush days, Californians established what they called committees of vigilance. Pushed to the limit of their patience, it is conceivable they might act in a similar manner today.
