Guilty, Guilty, Guilty

No surprise as the Feds presented substantial evidence to establish that Hunter Biden was a drug addict at the same time that he applied for a firearm permit.  Will his father pardon him?  If he does it will be a sign that Joe Biden will withdraw from the Presidential race.  Hunter Biden of course knows enough about Joe Biden’s concealed bribes from foreign governments to send his father to prison for the remainder of his life.  I assume promises have been made to Hunter that he will be pardoned after the election.  This makes mince meat of the Biden strategy of emphasizing that Trump is a convicted felon.  A bad day for the Biden Crime Family.

This was a decision I wasn’t sure about. On the one hand Hunter is obviously guilty, and with the evidence presented in court there’s no way that an honest juror could say that he was innocent. On the other hand, jurors don’t care about evidence when the court case becomes a matter of friends versus allies. We saw that as far back as the OJ Simpson case, and things have gotten worse since then. If this was Joe Biden himself on trial, I would expect a not guilty verdict just on the basis of dems protecting their own, regardless of the evidence.

But then again, Hunter isn’t a politician and he isn’t particularly likable. So I guess that’s enough to have the jury actually look at the evidence rather than saying “this guy is one of our guys, so we all say not guilty.”

News item yesterday pointed out that papa can commute any “unsatisfactory” sentence. Differs from a pardon in that the verdict remains.

Didn’t see that coming. One difference from the travesties in Manhattan (and in Minneapolis earlier) is that the judge wasn’t a Regime agent. May have influenced the behavior of the commissioner of jurors so you got a random selection for voir dire. Interesting the prosecutor managed to not throw the case given the plea deal the judge rejected.

Waiting for Joe to say: “If you vote to convict my son, you ain’t black!”

Just the opposite, I’m afraid.

The crimes Hunter was convicted of have practically nothing to do with the activities of the Biden Crime Family. Joe doesn’t get dinged by this. (Hunter will be pardoned after the election, when it’s safe for Joe to do so.)

And in the meantime, having Hunter charged and convicted of anything means the DOJ can pretend that it’s fair and even-handed, and that Trump’s farce of a trial was perfectly legitimate. “No two-tier justice here!”

“It also reopens the whole influence peddling Biden business with a ten percent cut for the Big Guy.”

I doubt it, the DOJ did this to distract from that, and the laptop will be downplayed into irrelevance. (National security types are already defending their Russia Russia Russia letter)

Biden might not even need to pardon his son for this first offense. Hunter is probably looking at months (not years) in a cushy country club facility.

At best, if Trump can control his instinct to go overboard about it, this is a wash, and well played by Garland. But if Trump attacks Biden for his poor drug-addled boy, he’ll appear to be piling on, and give Biden a sympathy bump.

But yeah Philip, I hope I’m wrong and our host is right. I’m just afraid his calculus involves an honest press, and the last time I saw that, it was riding out of town down candy cane lane on a unicorn.

Prediction:

Trump RICO conviction … The Government seizes Mara Lago and turns it into a federal prison with one sole inmate. Poor Hunter.
