He looms large in his own legend. And in the real world, that has a cost of untold generations of the Faithful
I’m not privileged to know the dealings, compromises or trade-offs All that I do know for certain is that the State, the CCP, decides who will be the Bishops of the Catholic Church within the Chinese world.
St. Pope JP II didn’t compromise with the communists in his beloved Poland.
Cardinal Zen wouldn’t compromise.
Francis is walking down a pathway he chose and he will have to account for his actions. Prayers for his soul and the souls of the Chinese Catholics are the only means we have to assist each of them. We are our brothers keeper.
Proverbs 25:26… “If the godly compromise with the wicked, it is like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring”
Psalm 119:2-3… “Happy are those who obey his decrees and search for him with all their hearts. They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths”
Yes. At this point I think that he holds the Chinese Church together in opposition to him. I feel convicted by the sins that I will have to answer to our Lord for, but I consider myself blessed that I will not have to face our Lord with things like this to answer for. Not that we know how that meeting will go. He clearly needs our prayers.
The secret agreement should be called the China-Vatican agreement, with the Vatican being the junior partner.
