I love that PP John XXIII quotation. Second favorite is what he reportedly said when asked what he would do if Jesus returned on his watch: “Look busy.”
He had a down to earth quality Frank that is attractive. He served as a chaplain in the Italian army in World War I, and he always said that he benefited greatly spiritually by ministering to the troops.
One can’t help but notice as time goes by, how much Church operations seem to morph into similarities with governments. Must be some sort of evil osmosis.
