If there’s a diocese where the bishop makes the rounds of his parishes and missions (and in the average diocese, the number of parishes allows you to make a scheduled visit and an unnanounced visit every two years), I do not know which diocese that is. OTOH, they squander time on the Conference of Catholic Bishops, an agency which should be dissolved and forgotten. They squander time and resources on diocesan papers at which people only glance. Recall Amy Welborn’s observation of what you saw at one Catholic confab after another: “bored out of their minds careerism”. The church-o-cracy is malignant.
Unless the treaty is written like the one in Dune, it is worthless and that treaty is immoral as it sponsors the slaughter if innocents.
So, bishops, get back to bishoping your diocese, please.
Art Deco:”If there’s a diocese where the bishop makes the rounds of his parishes and missions” that is and has been the case in the Diocese of Harrisburg (PA).” I imagine that it isn’t the Bishops who make these statements but the bureaucracy that maintains the Conference. Same thing as with the American Physical Society. The APS makes stupid statements about climate that are not, I bet, endorsed by the majority of the membership. It’s the second (or third-)raters who operate the APS that set its policy.
