These comments expose Cardinal Gregory as either clueless or a liar. Neither would surprise me.

People were introduced to the Latin Mass and felt its power and reverence. Then, whenever the 6 year shuffle or papal tyranny deprived them of the Mass of their ancestors, they became willing to travel inconvenient distances to get it.

Who is travelling an inconvenient distance to a watered down all-are-saved version of the Novus Ordo Mass? Any of those ever have standing room only outside Christmas/Easter/First Communion…

I feel so sorry for the Catholics unfortunate enough to live in Cardinal Gregory’s diocese. From his tone-deaf comments, I’d say Gregory hasn’t actually spoken with any of the traditional Catholics he’s persecuting, nor does he even try to understand why they would prefer the older rite.

Cardinal Gregory is a shepherd who has contempt for his sheep.

So, it seems that the new Mass has a smaller Carbon footprint too?!? Sauce for the goose!

Like his buddy Cupich, Gregory is a protégé of both Bernardin and McCarrick, so he is acting as trained.

Fr. “Bombadil” is absolutely right, IMO.
I will say this much about the Novus Ordo: Yes, it is clearly inferior, spiritually speaking, to the TLM. But the only regular (daily and Sunday) TLM offering in the Dallas diocese is the FSSP parish, located a minimum 45-minute drive each way from our house, and my bride is unwilling to put up with that. But we do have, to our great good fortune, no less than three parishes within a 20-minute drive where the priests are all relatively young, and all celebrate the N.O. according to the rubrics and with obvious reverence for, and belief in, the Blessed Sacrament. Yes, much of the music is execrable (except for the monthly EWTN-style Latin N.O. celebration at one of the parishes, where the pastor has instituted a Schola, with enthusiastic results), and there is far too much noise before Mass begins, and there is the usual insistence on singing instead of silence during and after Holy Communion, and hardly anyone goes to Confession regularly. But it still is a celebration of liturgy by people, priests and most laity, who sincerely believe in what we are doing. I will also note that at these three parishes I have never, since about 2015, heard any mention of that man in Rome at any Mass, except where the reference is required by the Eucharistic prayer. This pleases me greatly, and does not surprise me, all things considered.

We must persevere. Many of us here may not live to see the triumph of Truth over Modernism in the Church Militant, but the next generation will.

A blessed Advent to all.

Is Gregory deliberately obtuse or afraid of expanding vocations to religious life?

Take an Ordo Mass. Two altar servers. Sometimes two girls or boy and girl.
In some cases three servers but many parishes have only one to serve.

The TLM has all male servers. Fourteen serve at a high Mass. Seven young men serve during the weekday Mass. How can that be? Homeschooling in our little hamlet and a selfless Priest who loves his calling and has the proof to back it up.

Truth over Modernism Frank?
It will happen. I’m blessed to support a parish that strives for holiness and nurtures an environment for vocations to the priesthood.

Btw. These young altar servers start serving at the age of reason. Most stay with it and develop a love to serve. When they are called, they answer the calling. It’s beautiful to behold.
The families are so united and supportive of the
vocation decisions.

The fruit from the Ordo Mass in comparison?

Bombadil put the present situation perfectly in about 25 words:

“* God save us from petty boomers who can’t bear to see the church they made in their own image disintegrating as they face the death throes of their time in leadership.*”

“Some guy came into a parish, and..”

Kind of describes you, doesn’t it, Bishop Wilted?
