I’m quite skeptical of polls nowadays as the implosion of the landline network has made assembling probability samples quite challenging. Pollsters take convenience samples and massage them in various ways.
I wouldn’t doubt that you’d see results like that (and worse) if you carefully polled faculty members and journalists employed by legacy outfits, but I am in regard to Joe Blow democratic voter.

Even if the polls were off by 50%, that’s still a scary margin of self inflicted doom.
The young today (women especially) think of free speech in terms of being “hateful”; It therefore should be controlled, less anyone be offended. They don’t see free speech as a way of obtaining truth in a society.
Part of that is woke doctrine, part is an absence of civic education, part is a real lack of honest debate. The media promotes separation into “teams” today, and the blue team perceive themselves to be always morally superior to the red team. that plays into eliminating free speech. Blue actually think free speech is red/evil and therefore blue should eliminate free speech.
Doesn’t surprise me. CBS reported back in 2021 of a poll that found over 40% of Americans would support government censorship of hate speech, misinformation and such. We’ve made a mess of things, make no mistake.
I say this with dismay, and not with pride. I was one of the few who died from the beginning that legislating “hate speech” was a bad idea.
I always thought there was great value in knowing who despised you instead of forcing nice words into a person’s mouth.
I don’t want to force any words into anyone’s mouth. In the end, isn’t compelled speech compelled lying?

The Bible as Hate Speech says more about the hate of the accuser than it does about the Word.
What did Jesus say about coming to Earth…not to abolish the law but to fulfill it. We too will be hated if we follow Him and advance His reign.
Strange times. In a few years we could find ourselves celebrating Mass in the catacombs.
That’s what people succumb to when a) they have no fuel left in the tank to argue b) they are lazy. If a society only allowed polite rhetoric, then we would all turn into the British. Scary thought 😂
