The Sicilian branch of the Lakota’s were ruthless.
They operated numerous protection scams on small tribal start-ups. Racketeering, red market ops, brothels and of course gambling. ( Mostly horse racing. )
The one great thing that they brought to the Lakota’s was an incredible Caprese salad recipe.
It would bring a tear to your eye.

It is really funny to look at the classic ‘50s and ‘60s westerns and see who actually performed in the “Indian” roles.
The taut 1966 classic “Duel at Diablo” (starring James Garner, Sidney Poitier and Dennis Weaver) swirled about the epicenter of “Chata,” the limitlessly clever Apache chief orchestrating the ambush of a US Cavalry supply train.
The sinister and “undeniably Indian”“ Chata” was played by John Hoyt, a career actor but really a quite erudite New Yorker Yale graduate (BA, MA) and son of an investment banker.
But you would swear he was a Native American, having seen the film.
