Western Science, born from Christian theology, has primarily kept Islam at bay. Soon the Mullahs will/may have nuclear weapons. How do you achieve stand-off of mutual-assured-destruction with homicidal maniacs?

The Lord may let militant Islam punish His Church, but even when the prophet Jeremiah was facing the Babylonian invasion, he wrote these words in Jeremiah 33:19-26 (I am using the CSB translation because it conveys the intent of meaning so well in this particular case):

19 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 20 “This is what the Lord says: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night so that day and night cease to come at their regular time, 21 then also my covenant with my servant David may be broken. If that could happen, then he would not have a son reigning on his throne and the Levitical priests would not be my ministers. 22 Even as the stars of heaven cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so too I will make innumerable the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister to me.”

23 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 24 “Have you not noticed what these people have said? They say, ‘The Lord has rejected the two families he had chosen.’ My people are treated with contempt and no longer regarded as a nation among them. 25 This is what the Lord says: If I do not keep my covenant with the day and with the night, and if I fail to establish the fixed order of heaven and earth, 26 then I might also reject the descendants of Jacob and of my servant David. That is, I would not take rulers from his descendants to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But in fact, I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.”

Excellent post LQC.

Thank you. Restoration in the house. A deep cleansing first. We have the promise and the covenant. The future of America is very uncertain however the future of the Holy Catholic Church is secure, even though there is much cleansing ahead.

With unsecured boarders and the rise of socialism/communism within our country, my optimism for the Republic is teetering.

You really only need to visit nations which have allowed Islamic immigration en Mass to see the ghetto slums which Islam creates. It’s exactly the same wherever you go in the world. This is not a symptom of poverty which some migrants face, but a feature of how they live. The philosophy of the Muslim religion does not place the salvation of the person at its core. There is no progress or improvement of life, only the purpose to expand Muslim land. The problems which ordinary Palestinians face is not the terrorists ruling them- it’s Islam. Islam stands in the way of their betterment. Because we all know that the goal of Hamas and co does not stop at destroying the State of Israel, it is to create and expand the Muslim empire as far as the eye can see. That has always been the purpose of Islam. We in the west, ordinary people, refuse to understand this. I know everyone knows good Muslim people in their life- that’s because these people are good despite their religion, not because of it and they have managed to take out the good of their religion and live good lives. But, in reality there is no true co-existence. It will always be a sleeping giant waiting to stab you the moment you turn your back. And when you say this to ordinary fold, they call you a racist or a bigot or having “Islamophobia”. Well il take “Islamophobia” on the chin.

The Protestant Revolt/Reformation resembles the division of King Solomon’s kingdom that took place when he had his heart turned away from God by his foreign wives. Martin Luther resembles Jeroboam. Based on their conduct one could wonder how seriously the Church hierarchy takes Christ’s New and Everlasting Covenant. Their conduct, at least in the West, looks more like hookup spirituality than it does faithful Apostolic Succession.

IIRC in Islam their idea of God is one of pure will, with the side of Islam that recognized reason having lost out long ago.

Greg B, interesting point. But there were predecessors to Luther, people like Peter Waldo, John Wycliffe, Jan Huss, etc. And there were contemporaries just as influential but who disagreed with Luther: John Calvin (father of today’s Reformed tradition), Henry VIII (who earned the title of Defensor Fidei for the Pope for opposing Luther prior to his own defection), John Knox, Huldrych Zwigli, William Tyndale, etc. Roman Catholics often focus on Luther because his was among the most painful of the rebellions, but the Protestant revolt was hardly monolithic. So the analogy of the Roman Church with King Rehoboam of the southern kingdom of Judah and Benjamin, and Protestantism with King Jeroboam of the northern kingdom of Israel (also called Samaria) is imperfect at best, and ignores the prior split of AD 1054 between Eastern Orthodoxy and the Latin West.

Yet despite all this division, Christendom not only survived over Islam, but nations that were Christian came to dominate Islamic ones albeit sometimes at great cost in blood and treasure. True, there were some renegade Protestant nations which sided with Islamic ones, yet Islam was beaten back while today because of the infection of modernism and secularism in formerly Christian western nations, Islam is resurgent. We all know that punishment is coming for our disobedience to God, and perhaps this is how it will happen. Just as one of the Fathers of our Republic once wrote that blood is the natural fertilizer of liberty, so too is it the natural fertilizer of faithfulness to the Lord. Both the northern kingdom of Israel had to learn that from Assyria and the southern kingdom of Judah from Babylon.
