Teach people to hate the cops and teach blacks that they are owed immunity from law enforcement due to slavery that has been dead for over a 150 years, and you end up with more black deaths. However it was for worthy causes: the grifters of BLM could have mansions and white Leftists could feel good about hating non-Leftist whites. The deadly hand of “social justice” strikes again.
Liberals have always been misguided, but commonly had some fixed principles and some decent impulses. Not any more. The motor of Black Lives Matter was drawn from deplorable sentiments which exist on the spectrum which runs from ‘feckless’ to ‘malevolent’. You get a few lone wolves like Alan Dershowitz and Bari Weiss, but mostly liberals in public life are either utter fools or garbage people.
White Leftists: never affected by the consequences of their own ideology and always able to virtue signal about it.
We didnt see as much rough stuff here in 2020. We DID have one weekend in May when we came close to trouble. ..I had assumed mall security would disperse any ne’er-do-wells fairly quickly, if only to protect mall patrons from foolishness. They didnt. We had a two-week curfew after that.
I recall thinking that police and sheriff acted about as they needed; they were durn near criminally negligent in enforcing the law, yet refrained from acting to the full extent they could for the sake of keeping the peace. Sadly, upholding the law fully most likely would’ve sparked a small-scale war.
Incredibly, the ACLU threatened lawsuits that fall over law enforcement having used pepper balls. I’ve never understood how they figured we would have any peaceful condition of law and order if they chose to be …raucous…instead.
