Yes, and when they speak, the bullshit detectors hit maximum frequency.
Dyeing one’s hair a color not found in nature— pink, purple, etc.— is also a strong (but not infallible) indicator that one is dealing with a loon.
Of course, if a person is a member of the DSA, that is a 100% accurate predictor of an astonishing level of idiocy.

There are many more idiots than the socialists in Michigan. That’s why we have “My governor is an idiot” signs everywhere. I submit the idiocy isn’t the governor alone. Supossedly, the people of the state elected her twice. Even after dictatorial lockdowns.

I lived in a deep blue area until May of this year. The stickers had been scraped off the floors of the supermarkets and the masks had disappeared before I departed.
DSA is descended from one of the three successors of the old Debs-Thomas Socialist Party. It’s something of a surprise it still exists. Harper’s had a rather poignant article about 25 years ago which was a memoir of a man who had been active in DSA. The motif was the local office in his area moving to ever smaller and shabbier digs. One of the other successor organizations expired when its executive director died in 2005. The 3d is, surprisingly still alive, though the address of their HQ is now listed as ‘available’ by their quondam landlord. (DSA claims > 50x as many members as the 3d organization). Their current executive director is a 43 year old childless spinster who has been a salaried nuisance her entire adult life. Time spent in business, the civil service, and authentic philanthropy sums to zero.
Current members of Congress who are DSA include Senator Bernie Sanders, and Representatives Danny Davis, AOC, Summer Lee, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush, Jamal Bowman and Greg Casar.
While they all caucus with the Democrats, I don’t believe any of them have renounced their socialist backgrounds nor their affiliation with the DSA.

There were three successors to the Debs-Thomas outfit. Two of them were membership organizations which sought to work within the Democratic Party. One was run by Max Schachtman and Penn Kemble (and has disappeared) and one was run by Michael Harrington (that’s DSA, which still exists). The one which thought a 3d party was essential was run by David McReyndolds and still exists, but is a tiny organization.
If the democrats are happy to have these marxists, and give them access to the party’s election machinery, and give them the veneer of legitimacy by putting a ‘D’ after their names—- well, it no longer matters that their actual party is the DSA. Or that the DSA doesn’t have the capabilities to get people elected. The democrats are lending them their resources.
It’d be interesting to ferret out how many DSA have won state and local offices. And where their funding came from…
