Kennedy

In some ways Kennedy is a nut, as well as an orthodox liberal in most ways, but he actually has some interesting things to say.  If he decided to go independent, he could take ten percent of the vote, mostly from Joe Biden.

He may have the best chance of winning the election, if he were to get on the D ticket. He’s smart, very persuasive and could appeal to both sides. Heard him speak on electrification where I think he (knowingly) left some stuff out to drive his point across. Unless one had knowledge on the subject one wouldn’t catch it.

I recently read an article about this man, notably, the cruel way he treated his late wife up until her suicide death whilst portraying himself a “victim” of her abuse. He refused to let her family have her remains when she passed away, (even though they were separated and undergoing divorce procedures and he was shacked up with some b-grade actress). He buried her in the Kennedy family plot for publicity then secretly exhuming her body and buried her away from the Kennedy plot alone. A womaniser and a misogynist- A Kennedy through and through.

There are a number of One Hit Wonders in politics. They focus on one or just a few issues and have unique opinions, a few of which might be practical. They catch the public’s attention but rarely go further. William Jennings Bryan, Strom Thurmond, Eugene McCarthy stand out as presidential candidates of this genre. There are many others as aspirants for lower office. Kennedy obviously believes in this process by starting at the top.

I don’t care how many Democrat votes he siphons off. I am worried about the Republican votes he would siphon off because, on the surface, he looks more respectable than Trump. Scratch the surface, though, and he’s a lib. I may like some of his issues (just like I thought Obama made a good convention speech the first time) but after that surface posturing, you get stuck with that same old lib core.
PS I think he is probably a better man than Obama, but that’s hardly high praise!

Kennedy is a populist, championing the little guy. As such, he could very well siphon off a good percentage of the independent vote, as well as Trump’s newfound minority voters.

Kennedy is a liberal Democrat making populist noises.

Yup, and Trump is a liberal Republican making populist noises, and mean tweets, and indictments and impeachments and all the other baggage that independents voted against in 2020.

How many open primaries are there in this country? I’m not counting out Kennedy getting the Democrat nomination. If anything, he might force the DNC to push for Newsom to run. I’d honestly be amazed if Biden were on the ballot in ’24

Trump, contrary to my fears, governed as the most conservative Republican president since Reagan

I agree with you 100% (that could be a condemnation of the Bushes), but he’s not a conservative and never has been one. He behaved like a conservative for a few years, but he seems to be over that now. Give him credit for listening to the advice of the Federalist Society on those judge nominations, but he’s nowhere near the populist his memes portray him as. At least Kennedy has gone to court to fight for the little guy against corporate excesses and government overreach … Trump?
