Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.

I would say Nick Donnelly pretty well nailed it. In all of its aspects, the error that Prof. Kwasniewski calls “hyperpapalism” seems to be reaching a crescendo in this lousy excuse for a papacy. And the new director of EWTN’s news division, Montse Alvarado, recently gushed (no exaggeration) about “these ten wonderful years.” Live, on the air. I heard and saw it and still can’t believe it came from EWTN.
First thought:
He looks heavier in stone.
Second thought:
Thank God they’re not celebrating ad oririentam!
😮
I will protest if they try to automatically make him a saint after he passes, if only for sake of his soul (masses should be said for his soul – not intercession)
The ancients considered it hybris and an offense to the gods to depict a living man in a larger-than life statue, although a dead hero or emperor might merit a slightly enlarged version. Isn’t this idolatrous?
May I vainly hope that the SJ is only joking? Probably not.
Expect the worse, get the “worser”
it’s a parody account, although I believe the statue is real.
That’s ! How he should be -remembered.
@David WS 😂
In all seriousness where is this statue? Hope they used plaster-of-paris or concrete to make this and didn’t waste a good piece of natural stone. Yikes.
I couldn’t find the picture anywhere online, but that looks like an Argentine flag on the left. I’ll leave it for better online detectives to figure out.
For Pope Francis to be cannonized, the Pope will have to perform three major miracles. I will accept Pope Francis becoming a Catholic as one. Pope Francis’ hyperdulia of the Immaculate Conception as two. Pope Francis’ eternal adoration of Jesus Christ as three.
I pray.
