U.S. — The historic leader in primetime cable ratings Fox News was dominated last night by an unemployed man filming a selfie video in his partially-finished basement.
“This guy chatting for a few minutes in his underwear and a blazer just completely blew Fox News out of the water,” said Nielsen executive Roger Millican. “It was a ratings bloodbath.”
The unemployed man reportedly posted the basement selfie video on Twitter around 7 p.m., and by 7:02 p.m. had gained more viewers than the entire Fox News primetime lineup. “We got demolished,” said a Fox News producer, on condition of anonymity. “Our viewers abandoned us in droves to watch a video labeled ‘Good evening’, which was just this dude jawing in his basement. We’re in trouble.”
Panic quickly spread among the top brass at Fox News, as executive producers brainstormed how to win back viewers. “More gold coin ads? No, we already tried that. Think, Bob, think!” said Fox News VP Bob Randall. “Is it physically possible to add any more ‘Breaking News’ graphics? No? How about making the necklines lower on all the female anchors’ dresses? This is hard!!”

We will soon learn whether Fox News is, in fact, “bigger than Tucker Carlson”, as many have opined here and elsewhere. My bet is that this is a new ballgame, not at all like the departures of Bill O’Reilly and others. In the meantime, I can’t help hoping that when the Murdoch hellspawn finally get around to selling the network, the buyer will be Elon Musk, through a front group pretending to be Leftists. Wouldn’t that be fun?
Hey, it’s possible that FNC is in trouble. People can turn on companies. The one issue I can see for them is that people don’t primarily turn to cable channels for news anymore, so last week’s Fox viewer could stay just as informed without it. But I remember that Carlson was a very minor player for years before he got the desk.

MBITRW, Carlson has been on prime time television continuously for 23 years, 13 of those years as host of his own program. The ‘very minor player’ also founded and edited one of the dozen or so most visited starboard online publications.

I went looking for lists of top conservative voices from his post-CNN pre-FNC years, and he really had faded away. But you’re right, he could be a big-time draw now. I think Glenn Beck has been a steady earner although his presence isn’t what it used to be, and Megyn Kelly seems to be rebounding these days. And Bill O’Reilly wasn’t coming back from his departure due to the way he left. So maybe the 2020’s are Tucker Time.

Two years separated his time at CNN and Fox, for half of which he had a show on MSNBC.
Carlson was at 74 million views as of 2PM.
Now, I only watch FOXNEWS at 11PM for “Gutfeld!” Stopped watching FOXBUSINESS, except Kudlow at 4PM eastern. He’s a mensch.
I just stopped auto renewal on the long-standing Barron’s subscription not only because of the Tucker cancellation. B has been pushing ESG scams and even before that it’s completely WS sell side propaganda. I have an app on my phone that gives me more data faster and easier than the online B version. I get my most profitable picks watching Cramer on CNBC and shorting whatever he’s buying or vice versa.
Just like liberal talk radio, lefty boycotts don’t work. Who knows why? The Shadow knows.
