Have a gander at Ron Nessen’s memoir of his time as press secretary (1974-77). Nessen’s still alive (just shy of 90) and was still making occasional public appearances as of 2018. If he’s still lucid, I’d like to hear his remarks.
Michelle Malkin offered at the time she withdrew from public life that the profession she entered in 1992 no longer existed: no reporting, just ‘information ops’.
As time goes on, politicians and reporters seem less and less to experience shame.
And Biden will still manage to stuff up. And journalists will still manage to deliver mediocre content.

Subtitled “The Media’s Real Business is Story Laundering”, it’s the best, most concise outline I’ve seen of how journalism in our society has devolved into what Michelle Malkin so aptly described as “information ops”.
Highly recommend the Greenfield piece— it explains so much about why we are seeing absurdities like this ‘press conference’ kabuki and the firing of Tucker Carlson.
