He cannot let a week go by without being nasty to someone.
The Pontiff, Roche and their allies will continue to try to strangle Tradition. Further restrictions will come, but in God’s good time this pontificate will pass into the dustbin of history. With it will go a lot of what the Pontiff has wanted…as I would surmise he has made so many enemies that even those who would agree with him will want to be quiet and stay in the shadows.
The “integrating” part is the warning flag there. Jesus was not concerned with integrating with the local culture, which was corrupt…
I do have to give him credit though. He is very good at telling people not to follow his lead, by telling us exactly what it is about himself we should be wary of.
In his eyes and in the eyes of those who wield power, Catholicism is supposed to turn into a perpetual beta-test spirituality, with DLC that purge all hints of the original software.
Such is what occurs when you are led by corrupt, self-hating iconoclasts who need to toss everything that pricks their conscience into the memory hole.
Not only can you not have the worship of the Before Time, you can’t have anything that looks like it, nor the morality that came with it. All must fall so they can have their debauchery, be it lavish quarters, fine food or the ruder pleasures so popular with those who preach a poor church for the poor.
