Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
As a boy of 11 I watched his funeral on TV and recall my Mom and Dad being very solemn, according him hero’s status. It’s interesting to reflect that it had not yet been twenty years since V-E Day when Sir Winston passed. To me, the War was never any more real than Hollywood could make it. To them, it was like yesterday. I highly recommend William Manchester’s “The Last Lion.” Most fascinating historical glimpse I’ve seen of WW2, and a brilliant character study, IMO.
