Plowing the field of course is only the start. You kill the insect pests that would ravage the crops. You kill animals who would attempt to eat the growing crops. Any vegetarian meal is going to have quite a butcher’s bill behind it.
Of course these are the problems of First Worlders who are so very far removed from the production of the food they eat that they can virtue signal about it. Through all of human history the problem about food has not been how it was produced, but that a substantial portion of a population was not getting enough to sustain healthy life.
Keeping a small flock (chickens) I cull any over three years old every Fall. (After three years they are more fertilizer machines than egg producers.) It’s tough but you have to and the older birds make good soup.
People are usually horrified by that and say “I couldn’t do that!”. Taking wind out of their presumed moral superiority I quip: “The chicken YOU buy in the market is 6-8 weeks old.”
I had an infestation of squash bugs this year. They won. I told the kids I wanted a flame thrower for Christmas and they asked if I needed mental help 😂. I think everyone should have to grow/raise their own food – at least for a year
One more example as to why environmentalist ideology must be eradicated from the fabric of civilization.
Fighting animal cruelty, The Climate and, well, God, gives her a sense of purpose I guess. What else is she going to do with her time and privilege?
I love animals. Yes, boiled, baked, fried, roasted, and braised with copious amounts of gravy. Yum!
I believe that animals favor being man’s food.
