Popes receive endless letters for their staffs to wade through. One would think that a letter accusing a Cardinal of sexual abuse would rise to the top of the pile. Lay Catholics keep being promised that the old see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil to sexual abuse has change. Lay Catholics then easily can find evidence that little to nothing has changed.

That’s quite true. They are not accountable to anyone (although they sometimes forget they will be accountable to God). Laziness and unwilling to suffer for the Truth has always and will always be a problem. Not only that, FOS, they don’t even see us as “stakeholders”, to use the trendy term in corporate circles. Whether he is interested depends on your adherence to his positions (ex. his obsession with James Martin, S.J., while refusing to even talk to Cardinal Zen or mention him as Cardinal Zen undergoes a Communist show trial).

Actually, John Paul II stood in the way of some bishops wanting to take stronger action against predator priests. His record in dealing with this issue was not very good.
