Poland, with its fierce attachment to Catholicism, has played an outsized role in History for a relatively small nation surrounded by powerful and often hostile powers. Though it all the Poles have made their way down the generations with a laughing courage, and a determination to prevail against fearsome odds, which elicits my admiration.

The history of the Polish Lithaunian Empire 1565 – 1795 is not well known in the US. It had many advances in science, military, musical fields to
name a few combined with always being fiercely Catholic.

Through its history, Poland has fought – hard – for its survival. No single enemy has vanquished Poland, its defeats coming from alliances of its enemies, such as Prussia and Imperial Russia, and later Hitler and Stalin.
The history of Poland, which coincides with the adoption of Christianity through the Catholic Church, has been made of people who just will not quit. I include Polonia in this. We are too stubborn to quit.
It is not possible to go through Polish history here. The Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth was the largest country in Europe while it existed.
Poland has survived much, but today the biggest threat may be a birth rate that is plunging below replacement levels.
