PopeWatch has always contended that Pope Francis is not the Anti-Christ. The Anti-Christ would appear far more orthodox.

When we must get into hyper-fine theology debates as to whether on not the pope is really the anti-Christ…well, it pretty much translates into, “does that matter that much?” We sense clearly that “something is rotten in the state of the Vatican”. Thank God we still have the faith (as handed down by the Apostles)
The only surprising thing is he isn’t a Jesuit.
Ah, but before the Anti-Christ comes, there will be many (small “a”) anti-Christs (1 John 2:18).

Given the minimal reaction to this particular political micro-homily, I wouldn’t give the Deacon’s takes any oxygen.
He’s always going to give the left more leeway. He can see which way the Vatican’s political winds are blowing, and a good ultramontanist can do no other.
