Idiocy like this is the way civil wars start. Ramón Serrano Suñer, Franco’s brother in law, and a key player initially in Franco’s regime, was asked decades after the Spanish Civil War why it started. He thought about the question for a bit and then said, “We simply couldn’t stand each other any longer.” Sounds very familiar in the US of 2022.
