The default response of Democratic pols is to manufacture patron-client relationships (financed by the bond market).

There’s some (perhaps local) ubiquitous ads from the democrats here that go something like “Republicans want to raise taxes and cut spending. This means that they want you to pay more for less. We can’t live in an America where your dollar doesn’t go as far, don’t throw your vote away by voting Republican.”
I wonder if even the dumbest normies can hear that and not immediately think about how much more expensive gas is compared to when we had a Republican president.
This is all about making energy more expensive. Constricting the flow of energy, restricting access to health care, and stupidifying the education system do exactly what the Democrats want done: curtail freedom and make ordinary regular people clients of rich corporate-government patrons to be manipulated at will.
This is not economic illiteracy amongst democrat politicians. They are doing this deliberately. The illiteracy lies among their voters,
